Squelchy, Ben and Healesville
Let us begin by bowing our heads in silence to contemplate the plight of our fallen soldier, Scottie. He had a knee arthroscopy and now has a new friend called squelchy. It makes disgusting, water bottle like sounds and drives the hyperactive lad crazy.
Ah, there's squelchy.
With Sam gone and now Scottie spending all his time with squelchy, I had to call in reinforcements in the form of Ben, who kindly flew down from Brisbane for the weekend.
We drove to Geelong and got to skate the amazing park for about 5 minutes before it started raining slippery rain.
The face behind skateboard.com.au and numerous pseudonyms on the forum, Drew.
Drew's new shop, where we dined on delicious Italian fare and South Australian beverages. Thanks, Drew!
The epicentre of the internet. If that screen fell off the wall, life as we know it would crumble.
So anyway we shredded all weekend, but filmed it all with Ben's sweet video camera. Clip forthcoming. I can hardly walk. We went to a show briefly at the Pinnacle, where this band were playing their final gig, complete with gnarly props. Everything reminds me of Sam, I'm a mess.
They were pretty good, especially the drummer. Nonchalance personified!
On Sunday, I went to Healesville with Ed, Olivia, Milo and Fia. We stopped at this amazing op-shop.
Quite a bit to look through.
Duck! Who, me?
Ed found a few corkers.
What a nice place.
The main reason for our outing was to visit the Healesville Sanctuary, which I had been talking up pretty heavily. Thankfully, the birds of prey exhibition lived up to expectations.
Milo was loving it.
This swimming monitor had rhythm, and a penchant for slapstick!
Parenting, what a gig.
The curtains of the reptile show
Freaky stuff.
The monkeys
Mandatory kangaroo
And koala. Textbook!

Sunday, Monday
We enthusiastically got into some fun times cleaning up on Sunday morning. Ah, yeah!!
Look at the beetle. It's loving it.
Next stop: drop off the PA. Next stop: tiny cafe for takeaway coffees. Next stop: Sam's place. Next stop: A1 bakery. Next stop: West Brunswick oval, where Tom was playing a game of footie as part of the Renegade Pub Football League.
There he is, out on the field, playing for the East Brunswick Eye Gougers.
Sofia was making eyes at me.
The banter on the sidelines in the Eye Gougers camp was particularly fresh and entertaining. As were the uniforms. Look out for number 86, Georgia Rose. I saw her tackle a massive guy who sat on her like she was a bean bag! Awesome!
So they lost, big deal. It was a tight finish and they still have a shot at the finals. Here's 86 with the fabled set list.
Mascots from opposing teams having a good natured scrap.
Milo with a pretty good Jaws impression.
Next up were the Unicorns, claiming best team ever. Well, I don't know about that, but their sign sure was cool!
And their uniforms were dazzling.
Georgia and Sofia hit it off rather well!
While up in the stands, a few of the blokes got together and discussed how they could do things a bit better next time.
Perhaps one of the most amazing looking dogs I have ever encountered. Though I did spot a couple of Jack Russell's in little jackets and they blew this fellow out of the water in the cuteness stakes.
Later on, Fia constructed a strange helmet from a piece of pita bread. Disturbing? A little.
Not that scary though
Milo, watching telly
We had a pot luck at our place on Monday night
Everyone really came to the party. And people brought good food. Delicious! Thanks, everyone!
It was to commemorate the end of my time on Rae street, and to bid farewell to the ginger prince, who is now in New York again for three months. Already missing you, Sam!

Mountain Fold
Doug is a lovely fellow who resides in Sydney town. He came over here to launch the second issue of his Mountain Fold magazine, at Utopian Slumps.
We spent Saturday driving around in the beetle, picking up all this PA gear and cases of beer.
This is the magazine, it's great! It's free too.
There's Doug on the right, having a bit of a chat with Brendan.
There's Brendan's girlfriend Brianna after having a bit of a playfight with Brendan.
Jason and Ed manned the bar for the majority of the evening, while I swanned about 'taking photos'.
Michael Q played some records while Biscuit looked on appreciatively and Laila threatened to ruin everything.
Quite a crowd came along!
The first band were RIDICULOUSLY loud. Why so bloody loud?
Three of my favourite gingers.
Three of your favourite brunettes.
Post launch drinks at the Birmingham. This recliner was utilised to great effect by Marion here.
East Brunswick chic
North Fitzroy chic
Sam went camping the night before and had washed his mane.
A great night and an even better bloke. And a kebab. And Jason. Nice one, Doug!
