The lovely depths of winter

I have an ongoing, annoying habit of pointing out how good winter is to people when they complain about the cold. Sure, it's cold, I know, but is it really that bad? Maybe put on some extra clothes, maybe turn on the heater, get a cup of tea? All these solutions are fun. I like winter, I like being cold, I like getting warm. There's more choice involved, as opposed to summer, where you are constantly trying to get wet, go to the movies, anything to escape the freakin heat. I can't do anything in summer. I'm always uncomfortable.

Raph had a blank barbie at his house the other night. Keegan took over fire duties, which he has been doing a lot of at skateparks and the like.

It was Pete's 30th birthday party the other week. I got wasted and waited outside for Chris to show up, and by the time he got there, I was swaying around like crazy and the bouncer wouldn't let me back inside. Fair enough, I thought. Too bad for Chris, who had ridden across town and dedicated the rest of his night to getting me a gatorade and putting me in a cab.

Conor has been over a fair bit, sourcing a party venue for Havaianna thongs.

Prior was sporting a particularly distinctive handlebar moustache there for a while.

Max Creasy has been here a bit too. Sam was his assistant, taking photos of buildings around the city.

I saw this tree on the way to see the surgeon who told me I need another knee operation.

When I get home, Gary invariably shows me how he uses the scratching pole, as if that is all he has been doing all day. I know better, as I have busted him sleeping on the rocking chair when I walk around the back with my bike.

I made some banana bread, first time ever.

We wait at train stations a lot these days. This is Sarah rapping, after we went to the fourth birthday party for twins she used to look after. We took Heinekens so I had to go outside and open them on the dumpsters.

Tom came back from London, he leaves again today. This is at Charlotte's going away drinks, she is going to live with Siggy in Paris, lucky thing. Inexplicably, I have no photos of Charlotte.

Anna came over for the weekend a while ago. The camera loves her.

We ate lots of food, and went to the footie.

Also some good rounds of Warlords and Scumbags.

We saw the most amazing bonfire at the Collingwood Childrens Farm one night after dinner. It was huge, a glowing, smoldering mass that was amazingly hot, even from a few metres away. We stared at it for ages.
