The lovely depths of winter

I have an ongoing, annoying habit of pointing out how good winter is to people when they complain about the cold. Sure, it's cold, I know, but is it really that bad? Maybe put on some extra clothes, maybe turn on the heater, get a cup of tea? All these solutions are fun. I like winter, I like being cold, I like getting warm. There's more choice involved, as opposed to summer, where you are constantly trying to get wet, go to the movies, anything to escape the freakin heat. I can't do anything in summer. I'm always uncomfortable.

Raph had a blank barbie at his house the other night. Keegan took over fire duties, which he has been doing a lot of at skateparks and the like.

It was Pete's 30th birthday party the other week. I got wasted and waited outside for Chris to show up, and by the time he got there, I was swaying around like crazy and the bouncer wouldn't let me back inside. Fair enough, I thought. Too bad for Chris, who had ridden across town and dedicated the rest of his night to getting me a gatorade and putting me in a cab.

Conor has been over a fair bit, sourcing a party venue for Havaianna thongs.

Prior was sporting a particularly distinctive handlebar moustache there for a while.

Photobucket

Max Creasy has been here a bit too. Sam was his assistant, taking photos of buildings around the city.

I saw this tree on the way to see the surgeon who told me I need another knee operation.

When I get home, Gary invariably shows me how he uses the scratching pole, as if that is all he has been doing all day. I know better, as I have busted him sleeping on the rocking chair when I walk around the back with my bike.

I made some banana bread, first time ever.

We wait at train stations a lot these days. This is Sarah rapping, after we went to the fourth birthday party for twins she used to look after. We took Heinekens so I had to go outside and open them on the dumpsters.

Tom came back from London, he leaves again today. This is at Charlotte's going away drinks, she is going to live with Siggy in Paris, lucky thing. Inexplicably, I have no photos of Charlotte.

Photobucket

Anna came over for the weekend a while ago. The camera loves her.

Photobucket

We ate lots of food, and went to the footie.

Photobucket

Also some good rounds of Warlords and Scumbags.

We saw the most amazing bonfire at the Collingwood Childrens Farm one night after dinner. It was huge, a glowing, smoldering mass that was amazingly hot, even from a few metres away. We stared at it for ages.

Prior's art opening

Prior had an opening for the feature wall in his bedroom. It was originally going to be a photo of me, but when I inferred it might be a bit weird, he made it a picture of himself drinking a beer underwater. It's really good! Here he is in front of it. He gave me a tour of his bedroom, it's looking good. Sweet book by a fellow who took photos of Edmund Hillary climbing Everest.

Photobucket

Like all good art openings, there was free booze from the good people at Cock and Bull winery. Also other drinks and a cheese platter. Quite the spread, Prior!

Photobucket

Quite a crowd gathered. Well, significantly more people than the 6 that Prior anticipated.

Photobucket

No shortage of ASM and Slam back issues in the loungeroom. Well, what do we have here? It's weird to re-read an article about someone who you didn't know the last time you read it, but now you've known them for years.

The handshake sealing the deal on a very complicated bet between Tee and Sam on who can go without shaving the longest.

Photobucket

Prior and Luke G sang me their friendship song.

Photobucket

Chris lives with Prior, or is that the other way around. Seeing as it was Prior's opening, I think it may be the former.

Photobucket

I found out that Rainee (?) and her sister live in Yarraville. This weekend has been very enlightening in terms of meeting people who live near me. It's a happening area!

Photobucket

Sam was in fine form. I have some amazing video footage. Might have to file that next to the disturbing footage I have of Greg Stewart talking us through his Ben Pappas footage.

Photobucket

Thanks Prior! Nice curating.

Weekend pics

I worked at the Someday sale over the weekend. It was fun seeing all the old gang from this alternate universe.

Photobucket

Layla and Louie, taking cash and folding.

Photobucket

Layla having a smoke next to the amazing sign Louie and I constructed. We made it out of a cardboard box!

Photobucket

Rohan said he had a bad pimple on his toe. I thought he was exaggerating, and asked him to see it. This is the best pimple I have ever seen in my life.

Photobucket

Chris showed up and fixed his tube.

Photobucket

Conor was over for the weekend again! We went to a socially intense Utopian Slumps opening, then a strange party in a warehouse in Fitzroy where you had to pay to get in and there was meant to be free beers but there wasn't. At least Miles' band played. They were awesome! 'I love stage Miles', said Liege.

Photobucket

We spent the rest of the night outside in the alleyway with Leah and those rough northside types.

Photobucket

Leah took a photo of me with my new shoes that I bought from Rochelle's jumble sale. I had had a few and didn't realise they were two different sizes.

Photobucket

Another one of Leah's. Amazing!!

Photobucket

Cute.

Photobucket

Hungover the next day at the sale. All I could come up with was a photo of Louie with Louie the dog.
