In the news

Not last Sunday, but the Sunday before, I was looking through the paper. When I say looking through the paper, I mean reading the magazine bits then checking the social pages. Well well well, who do we have here? They even stuffed up the order of the fake names!

Photobucket

Misha has a show up at Y3K gallery at the moment. It's all about poo!

Photobucket

He even custom decorated some Nag Champa for the occasion. I think it's still available from the gallery if you're interested, pretty collectable stuff.

Photobucket

This is definitely worth going to see. We went to the opening shindig and marvelled at the faces in the watercolours and the badass coolness of the sculptures.

Photobucket

Afterwards, we had dinner at a fancy schmancy pizza place, the type that doesn't put tomato sauce on the base. They obviously had a big meat slicer on display, along with ridiculously large tubs of nutella.

Photobucket

They use the nutella for the dessert pizzas, which were vastly more impressive than the main course. Or maybe we ordered badly. Or maybe I was pretty sauced myself.

Photobucket

There's Riley, nailing it as per usual.

Photobucket

There's TJ, Doug over from Sydney, Kashi mai, CB and a host of others.

Photobucket

We had a few drinks at the Toff, which also happened to be the venue for Mind Fractals, which also happened to be insanely smokey and loud. Tom proudly informed us the next day that the fire department had turned up later that evening.

Photobucket

Doug was all blurry by this point.

Photobucket

I think I was purchasing some salt and vinegars at this point, and Olivia must have been taking a photo of something. The demon drink!

Photobucket

To offset this terrible behaviour (or perhaps just give it a new location), I have become very interested in camping and camping stores. I've become a bit of a camping gear snob. This, for instance, may look like a decent tent. The price is certainly right.

Photobucket

But check the stenno job on the side - this thing is a joke!

Photobucket

Scottie is also interested in the camping, but in a more Man Vs Wild way. Here he is trying on some rubber boots, while Rosie looks on, impressed.

Photobucket

Here's a solution for those who want to keep warm and look like a maniac at the same time!

Photobucket

Scottie got a flint and proceeded to throw sparks around the car, in the general direction of my new (middle of the range, but very good) tent.

Work dinner at the restaurant in China Town with the piano player! Nadia, Max and Barrie were in attendance.

Photobucket

These drinks were surprisingly sweet, even for how they look.

Photobucket

Went skating on Saturday. With Dave! We had a lot of laughs over this one.

Photobucket

This was also dry, flinty fuel to our hilarity fire. Turns out the guy on the left is Marty Girotto, Joey's mate from the 'Gong. hope he got paid well for this one.

Photobucket

The reunited odd couple, Danza and Joey.

Photobucket

It's the simple things I've missed while Joey's been away all these months, like knowing I'm having a good night because he keeps on falling over on the road while trying stupid tricks on Jason's board.

Photobucket

Brunch at the Davis - Radonich's, complete with A1 Bakery goods.

Photobucket

Doug!

Fia and Rosie

Scout!

Photobucket

Scout's door. Sorry this is a bit haphazard and lacking in narrative!

Not quite an update

I've been a bit lazy with the life documentation of late, so please accept this animated gif of Sam's triumphant return to the world of corn rows, over in his adopted couch home of New York. Image taken from here.

Photobucket

Rest assured, everything is going awesome with me.

Fire pits

It was my birthday last week. I always have a great day on my birthday, no matter what I'm up to. I had a great ride into town, had a good meeting with a stockist, then meandered around, having expensive lunch and bumping into friends. Milo and Fia prepared an amazing menu for my dinner (with lots of help from their mum and grandma) and also made me incredible artwork.

Photobucket

On Friday, we had a fire pit extravaganza to celebrate Harriet and my birthdays. Kate and Maz got the new fire pit as a birthday present. It's a good one. Tip: if you're after a new fire pit, look no further than an old washing machine tub.

Photobucket

Good crew started rocking up and staring into the hypnotic flames. At this point, it was just a nice, sedate gathering of friends, recounting amusing anecdotes and tales from abroad.

Photobucket

Somewhere along the line, things got a bit crazy. It may have been when this half gorilla, half wookie showed up.

Photobucket

Hang on, it's not a half gorilla, half wookie! It's Georgia!

Photobucket

Rhys brought me lovely presents of wine for my cellar. Chris is back from his travels to Canada and sleeping on the streets of Tokyo, which apparently is no big thing.

Photobucket

Tim, definitely embodying the spirit of the occasion, flanked by Tree.

Photobucket

I look for ThreeThousand cover shots wherever I go now.

Photobucket

Another one. Melbourne just tastes better from a tinnie.

Photobucket

The pit carried on throughout the evening.

Photobucket

Doug showed up from Sydney and proceeded to serenade us in the lounge room.

Photobucket

Tom, Andie and Benno!!

Another, this one from the kitchen:

And yet another, featuring four skateboarders of wildly varying skill levels and day jobs.

Photobucket

Not sure what song was playing here, but it may very well have been 'Max, ditch the pit' by Olympic Doughnuts, which was recorded specifically for the night and performed at a concert running concurrently down the road. We held a simulcast, Live 8 style.

Photobucket

All good things come to an end. The extinguishing.

Photobucket

And the next morning. This one is inspired by Conor's popular photo.

Photobucket

That day, we went shredding on the west side and stumbled across a brand new, never skated park.

Photobucket

It also has a Fitzroy bowl replica, but that wasn't finished yet.

Photobucket

It was fun to grind the ledges for the first time.

Photobucket

That evening, we headed over to Roopa's for his birthday celebration

Photobucket

It was literally a sausage fest, as Sarah gave Roopa a sausage maker as a present. They were incredible!

Photobucket

This impossibly cute/ewok/guinea pig puppy was there. His name is George Michael.

Photobucket

Here's George after a few drinks.

Photobucket

Nothing like sitting around a fire pit. Unlike our washing machine tub, Roopa's is an old satellite dish!
